GREEN SCHOOL WEEK

Escoles de l’Ateneu Igualadí received the logo of Green week last school year and this year we have prepared a Green week to celebrate it. Class 4 have interviewed the rest of the classes to know more about their green delegates and their plans for the week. We were interested in what they do to help the whole school to be Green. Here you can read the answers.
Class 1 “Eagles”: Anas, Pol, Júlia 1. Who are the green delegates? Cristina 2. What activity do you do this week? Two activities: play with the green cards and classificate the rubbish for the compost bin. 3.What is your class green dutie ? We are in chrage of the compost bin. Class 2 “Spiders”: Jin, Jana, Carlota 1. Who are the green delegates? Martí 2. What activity do you do this week? 3.What is your class green dutie ? Class 3 “Poopoes”: Marc B, Marc C, Joan 1. Who are the green delegates? Arnau Brunet 2. What activity do you do this week? Explain the treatment of the water in a poster 3.What is your class green dutie ? Water the plants in school Class 4 “Seagulls” : Anas, Pol, Júlia 1. Who are the green delegates? Jordina and Isidre. 2. What activity do you do this week? What activity do you do this week? The life of the rubbish. 3.What is your class green dutie ? Be in charge of paper bins Class 6 “Beavers”: Lena, Maria and Jordina 1. Who are the green delegates? Baldiri and Roc. 2. What activity do you do this week? Working and talking about reciclying, and we have prepared four posters. 3.What is your class green dutie ? We look after the rabbits and chickens in the henhouse. Pre primary Class 3 years old “The rabbits”: Gerard, Isidre, Oriol 1. Who are the green delegates?Rawya from class Lions. 2. What activity do you do this week? Learn the colours of the different bins and do activities of recycling 3.What is your class green dutie ? Close doors. Pre primary Class 4 years old “The birds” : Gil, Arnau, Albert 1. Who are the green delegates? Rawya from class Lions. 2. What activity do you do this week? Bring juice from home in a bottle. 3.What is your class green dutie ? To water the plants. Pre primary Class 5 years old “The lions” :Quim , Quim , Aniol 1. Who are the green delegates? Rawya. 2. Class 5 prepared an interview to their Green delegates, Ramon and Aida, and to the School teacher Montserrat, who is one of the teachers that organizes and developes the programme in the school. Now we know more about their work and the organisation of the school week.
What do you have to do as a delegate? Ramon: Helping school saving energy and water. Aida: We help school to be green: saving energy , recycling. How many Green delegates are there in the school? Ramon and Aida: 9 delegates. How often do you meet? Ramon and Aida: Normally once a month. How long have we been a Green school? Ramon and Aida:Approximately one year. Have we done a lot of progress in the school since we are Green school? Ramon, Aida and Montserrat: Yes, we have, Do you recycle at home? Ramon: Yes Aida: Yes Montserrat: Yes Do you have all the containers? Ramon: Yes, we have different containers. Aida: Yes, we have Montserrat: Yes, we have Do you have recycling bins near your house? Ramon: Yes Aida: Yes, I do Montserrat: Not really. Because I need the car. How do you come to school, by clean transport or by car? Ramon: By scooter, so by clean transport. Aida: I come walking Montserrat: I come walking too. What do you think: is Igualada a dirty or clean town? Ramon: Igualada is not so clean. Aida: Igualada is dirty. Montserrat: I think Igualada is sometimes dirty in the streets. Do you waste a lot of electricity at home? Ramon: As little as possible. Aida: No, we save it. Montserrat: No, as little as possible. Do you think industries in Igualada pollute a lot? Ramon: No, there are few industries. Aida: No, I don’t think so. Montserrat: Not now, before there was pollution in the river.After Class 5 prepared an interview to one of the school teachers who have organized this Green week and who is in charge of developing the programme.
What is your plan this 1st term about Green school? The general plan is that everyone gets concious of taking care of the Earth. What is your plan for the rest of the school year? All children should make less waste and recycle more at home and in the school. How many Green Schools are there in Catalonia? About 500.
